The frame for this painting is a found object, actually a desk drawer. I utilized the drawer as a frame for many reasons, the beauty of the wood being one. Mainly, I chose it because the shape was evocative of a reliquary or a place for displaying a sacred object. In a sense, drawers are where we store scared objects, memories, often in the form of photographs. This
work is from
an image in
the family
album. An
image of
children put
to work in
the fields
while
elsewhere
others played
in the yard. |
