Sister,
Sister
relates to the
Greek drama
masks of Comedy
and
Tragedy.
A yin and yang
of something so
different, yet
connected
in each of
us. The
connection is
strong like
that of paper
dolls,
cut from the
same material
and bound
together.
Yet, unlike
those
dolls, we break
free with our
individuality.
Visually this
piece is about
relieved
symmetry.
On another
level,
two elements
become three
then
four. In
it there is a
strong
influence of
the earliest of
American
painters known
as
limners.
These
self-taught
artists
depended
strongly on the
silhouette for
their forms.
